What a terrific Tuesday! A big THANK YOU goes to Mike Mehew, the store manager @ our McKay's Mill Publix, and his staff for coming over and giving a outstanding healthy food visit. The first question that was asked to the children was if they knew what store they were from. We all got a good laugh by Joe Ozenne (PreK 1) who proudly yelled at Walmart! Next, the children were given hair nets. Mike then asked the children why they thought it was necessary to wear hair nets around food and we got a couple of great answers...Evan Blair (Pre-K 3) said it was because you don't want to get food in your hair!
Every child was given 100% apple juice, strawberries, grapes, watermelon, pineapple, carrots, celery and two different types of dip. We were very proud of several children for at least trying everything on their plate! That is what it is all about. We even had a couple of kids get very excited to learn that they liked something they thought they didn't.
This afternoon we had another fun cooking project for the kids. They all had graham crackers and they put a thin layer of vanilla pudding on them and then they topped that with fresh strawberries. It was a great afternoon snack and the children are having a great time preparing everything themselves.
