Mardi Gras and Chinese New Year Celebrations!

At AOMM, we believe learning comes alive when children explore the beautiful traditions that make up our diverse world.

Our students had a wonderful time learning about the traditions of Chinese New Year, also known as Lunar New Year. This special holiday is celebrated in many countries across Asia and marks the beginning of a new year based on the lunar calendar. Each class crafted a dragon to display in their classrooms.

We also brought a bit of New Orleans flair so our teachers could celebrate Mardi Gras! One of our families shared a King Cake with us and we enjoyed every last bite.

We value introducing children to traditions from around the world in ways that are joyful, respectful, and age appropriate. Exploring celebrations like Chinese New Year and Mardi Gras helps our students:

  • Build cultural awareness

  • Develop curiosity and empathy

  • Recognize similarities and differences

  • Appreciate the diversity within our own community

By celebrating together, we help plant the seeds of understanding and inclusion at an early age.

We are so proud of our students for embracing new experiences with open hearts and eager minds. We look forward to continuing our journey around the world — one celebration at a time!
